San Francisco Recycling’s Artist-In-Residence Program
Since 1990, San Francisco Recycling (part of Norcal Waste Systems) has hosted an innovative program designed to inspire and educate people about recycling and resource conservation by providing local artists with access to materials, a workspace and other resources at the company’s Solid Waste Transfer and Recycling Center. The resulting art has included everything from sculpture, to fashion, to an orchestra composed for and performed exclusively with instruments made from trash.
